MASTERPIECES TAKE TIME By Skip La Cour
When will I get it all together? Do you sometimes ask yourself this question as you work toward the physique you desire? If you have, you are not alone! Ive asked myself the same question hundreds of times over my decade-long bodybuilding career. There are so many training methods, eating philosophies, supplementation techniques, and motivational strategies! How can you learn, organize, follow through, stay consistent, and keep current on all of them? Excelling in all of these areas of bodybuilding can oftentimes seem like an unattainable aspiration. Being a person with incredibly high standards as you probably are, constantly focusing on this challenge can create anxiety, impatience, overwhelm, and dissatisfaction. How can you break this disempowering pattern of thinking? First, look ahead one year into the future. In January of the year 2000, decide right now the way you will be training, eating, and feeling about yourself. What do you want to look like? No......what do you REALLY want to look like? What will it take you to get there? What will you need to do over the next 12 months to make it that way? If you become more clear about exactly what you want and what you must do to get what you want, your chances of achieving your bodybuilding goals will become much easier. Most importantly, youll feel more optimistic and at ease while you pursue them. Trust me! Secondly, look back one year from today. How were you doing back then? What did you look like? How were your habits back then? How have you progressed since January of 1998? Have youve done quite better than you had previously realized? If you were better off back then, exactly what were you doing differently? Youve done it before. You can do it again. Lastly, use the power of faith. If you are truly committed to reaching your bodybuilding goals, you will find a way to achieve them. Just remember the old saying "Masterpieces take time." |
