Skip La Cour Tells You Why He's Certain This Web Site Will Help You Reach Your  Bodybuilding And Training Goals

Thank you for visiting my web site!

It amazes me sometimes how easily those of us with a common interest (or obsession!) can be brought together from around the entire world. The Internet is an awesome tool, isn't it?

I have spent literally hundreds of hours making this valuable source of bodybuilding information and inspiration available to you. Yes that's right! I do all the computer work, write every article, scan every photo, process every order, and personally answer my e-mail. I have no staff. I hope that my passion, hard work, and commitment to helping you become you very best is apparent.

Use this skiplacour.com website often and use it wisely. Whatever you do--use it!

Role Modeling

Without a doubt, role modeling is the most efficient pathway to success in bodybuilding.

You are faced with a critical decision as you strive to achieve your physique development and training goals. You can continue to try to "re-invent the wheel" or, in other words, learn how to succeed on your own. Unfortunately, you’ll waste valuable time and be forced to endure the pain, confusion, and frustration that goes along with that process. Or, you can learn instantly from someone who has already discovered proven, effective, and winning strategies.

Without a doubt, role modeling is the most efficient pathway to success in bodybuilding.

What makes the choice of role modeling someone you respect even more attractive is when that person has actually applied his knowledge. In the gym and on the bodybuilding stage, the results he has earned back up his words.

Just What Makes Me Think I’m So Knowledgeable?

With so many other champion bodybuilders, magazine writers, nutritionists, personal trainers, and exercise physiologists, not to mention the Ph.D.s, CSCSs, MDs and other experts with fancy letters behind their names thoroughly studying this subject, just what makes me think I can help YOU?

That’s a very good question.

Have I become the number one authority on drug-free bodybuilding because I am so brilliant? No. Is the reason why I’m considered the leader in drug-free training because I’m the best-built drug-free bodybuilder on the planet? No.

The simple reason why I’m believed to be the ultimate resource for drug-free bodybuilding information is because no one else is trying to do what I’m doing. No one else in the bodybuilding world has put as much effort into searching for answers, dissected the subject from as many different angles, has been doing so with the same amount of intensity, or has been doing so for as long as I have.

I’ve now been training hard for over 14 years. Now, I know everyone says they train hard and many other bodybuilding experts have been training for longer than the 14 years I have been training. What makes me different, however, is that I started training at the mature age of 27 years old. I already had a track record of success in my business career before I even picked up a dumbbell.

Sure, I was very athletic in high school and dabbled around in the weight room from time to time. I do not include that time messing around as part of my training experience. A lot of experts like to include the time they were undisciplined, inconsistent teenagers are part of their training experience to bolster their resumes. I choose not to do so for obvious reasons.

When I started bodybuilding, I was serious and committed from day number one. Just like many of you, I had always been searching for that one certain thing in my life I was destined to be great at doing. When I discovered bodybuilding, I immediately knew it was what I was put on this earth to do. I didn’t waste any more time dabbling. I’ve always approached the daunting task of developing my physique as a determined, mature adult.

Have I become the number one authority on drug-free bodybuilding because I am so brilliant? No. Is the reason why I’m considered the leader in drug-free training because I’m the best-built drug-free bodybuilder on the planet? No. The simple reason why I’m believed to be the ultimate resource for drug-free bodybuilding information is because no one else is trying to do what I’m doing! No one else in the bodybuilding world has put as much effort into searching for answers, dissected the subject from as many different angles, has been doing so with the same amount of intensity, or has been doing so for as long as I have.

My career has been like a shot-out-of-a-cannon, all-out sprint. I entered my very first contest just 13 months after I start training and I have now tallied up over 27 contest appearances. The last eight years have been at the highest level of national and international amateur drug-free competition.

The amount of pressure I’ve put on myself year after year has been tremendous. With my victory in August of 2002, I became the only man to have ever won the overall title twice at the NPC Team Universe. I am the only man to have won the overall titles at both the NPC Team Universe and the Musclemania Natural Bodybuilding Championships—the two most competitive and most publicized drug-tested bodybuilding contests in the United States. I am also the only man who has entered all ten consecutive NPC Team Universe National Championships held since the event began in 1994. I have won most class titles at the Team Universe (5) and I have competed on four Team USA international bodybuilding teams.

Yes, I’ve been in the trenches trying to achieve my own outrageous bodybuilding goals for a long time now. There is the old saying “Ask and you shall receive.” Well, I’ve been asking myself the same question over and over for over a decade:

“What must I do to become the best drug-free bodybuilder in the world?”

I’ve been striving to reach the goal of being considered one of the greatest drug-free bodybuilders for quite some time—long before being drug-free was considered a popular or viable route to take if you wanted to be successful in this sport.

How I Can Help YOU Reach Your Goals

But, you know what? I really don’t think what I’ve personally achieved on the bodybuilding stage and in the gym is what makes me uniquely qualified to help YOU. Another question I’ve been asking myself during my bodybuilding career has been:

“How can explain the strategies that have made me successful to help others—and do so in ways they can easily understand?”

I’ll be honest with you. The original reason why I wanted to share my knowledge with others was because I wanted to get people off of my back. You see, when I started growing, it seemed as though everyone began accusing me of taking steroids, growth hormone, and other illegal physique-enhancing drugs.

Every time I would hear their unfair and inaccurate accusations, it would kill me inside! Over and over gain, it felt as though someone punched me in the stomach every time I would hear that garbage. Why would the criticism bother me? I put far greater value in the quality of my character as a man than I do the quality of my muscles!

You could say I started becoming a bodybuilding writer, coach, and teacher to avoid pain. I thought if I could tell those people who doubted my drug-free status what I actually did to succeed—and they achieved awesome results themselves—they’d start seeing me as the upfront-and-honest, hard working, and dedicated person and bodybuilder I truly am.

I soon became addicted to helping others overcome the mental and physical challenges that stood in the way of building their bodies without the use of drugs. I’ve written literally hundreds of articles for the regional, national, and international bodybuilding magazines over the past seven years (Ironman, Muscular Development, Flex, Natural Muscle, Ironman Japan, Monthly Bodybuilding Japan, Natural Press of the UK just to name a few). I created this Internet website over four years ago. I’ve written nine books and produced four videos. I’ve worked until the wee hours of the morning pumping out my material. To say the least, I am very proud of what I’ve been able to create. More importantly, I sincerely believe my efforts can help YOU get what you want out of bodybuilding.

Heck, about five years ago I even quit the full time job that I worked for over 15 years to fully focus on my passion for bodybuilding and fitness. Many of my family and friends thought I was crazy at the time, but I’m certain they’ll all agree it was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life.

You Don’t Have To Be A Competitive Bodybuilder To Benefit From What I’ve Learned

You don’t have to be a competitive bodybuilder to benefit from what I’ve learned. All of us training in the gym—no matter what our goals are and our level of experience—are after the same things. We all want to build more muscle, lose body fat, build muscle and lose body fat at the same time, and most importantly, feel good about what we are doing. I am positive my work will help you get what you want from your bodybuilding and training efforts. I am so confident that I always offer a money-back guarantee that you’ll be 100 percent satisfied.

My journey has been both exhilarating and very exhausting. No matter how difficult and thankless my efforts may have seemed at times, I persevered with my mission to raise the level of drug-free bodybuilding knowledge for the benefit of us all. I’m proud to say some of my biggest doubters have become some of my biggest fans. Over the years, I have received over 1,000 letters and e-mails from people thanking me for the difference I have made in their bodybuilding efforts—and their lives.

My Knowledge Has Been Acquired From Some Of The Best Minds In Bodybuilding

I have asked literally hundreds of questions of other champion bodybuilders and experts over the years. Although I have actually used and evaluated every single one of the best lessons that I will share with you on this website, I didn’t create all of them myself. My knowledge has been acquired from some of the most-respected minds in bodybuilding.

I am always striving for more knowledge and have created more opportunities to learn than most bodybuilders will in their lifetimes. I have had access to most of the greatest drug-free bodybuilders in the world—and have asked them a lot of questions. I entered the first two Musclemania contests, all of the NPC Team Universe shows, and have done dozens of guest posing and appearances at drug-tested contests around the United States and in several different countries. I’ve traveled around the world on several Team USA bodybuilding teams. My job for two years at Muscular Development was to conduct up close-and-personal interviews and write in-depth profiles on the top natural bodybuilding stars.

You can see that my knowledge has come from a wide variety of experts in the bodybuilding world. Now YOU have the unique opportunity to learn what I know in a clear and concise manner on this website.

I have been fortunate to have been sponsored and furnished with cutting edge, state-of-the-art information by Met-Rx, Twinlab, AST Sports Science, Mushasi, and Champion Nutrition. I spent countless hours with AST Sports Science president Paul Delia discussing every conceivable aspect of bodybuilding. Bill Phillips of EAS and Muscle Media and I have spent several hours in person and on the phone together. Phillips has been extremely inspirational in helping develop the bodybuilding personality I have become today.

I’ve Focused On The Similarities of The Top Drug-Free Bodybuilders—Not Their Differences

While speaking with many of the top drug-free bodybuilders, I’ve noticed their methods of doing things are often very different. Some of them train very heavily and some rather lightly. Some do up to 20 sets for each body part while others do as few as four. Some of these champs train six days a week and some only three or four. Some diet strictly all year while others start watching what they eat just six weeks before a contest. A few of these athletes use every supplement available while others use just a few.

The differences oftentimes confuse those of us trying to model their strategies for success. Uncovering the similarities is a very complicated process. Many of us quickly give up on looking for those similarities, throw our hands in the air, and say, “I can’t learn from them. Everyone is different and responds differently to training and eating techniques!”

Sure, most of us think we are unlike most people training in the gym. We feel more comfortable believing that our own individual circumstances, patterns of thinking, and the challenges we face while trying to build our physiques are unique. Many times we choose to believe our own difficulties are tougher to overcome than those of the “other guy.”

I truly believe I've maneuvered my way through the confusion for you. I have assembled the most-important winning strategies that are common amongst the greatest natural bodybuilders on this website, and in my magazine articles, books, and videos.

We actively seek out and zero-in on our differences. We make a point to notice what makes us unlike other bodybuilders by identifying variables such as training styles, routines, diets, body types, genetics, metabolic rates, number of years training, age, gender, and whether we train drug-free or chemically-assisted just to name a few.

Focusing on our differences is counterproductive. Adopting the belief that our situation is especially unique and more difficult to overcome can also be detrimental. Why? Despite our particular circumstances, focusing too much on our differences will unnecessarily complicate the bodybuilding process.

Well, I haven’t focused on all the differences. And because I haven’t done so, I believe I have discovered some key distinctions that could help you greatly in your efforts to improve the quality of your physique.

Why I Call My Website "The Mass Machine"

Travis Souza, a good friend and former training partner of mine, starting calling me “Machine” years ago. He couldn’t believe how disciplined I was about my training, eating, and contest preparation. No matter how disorganized my life may have seemed or what was going on with the rest of the world, he was amazed how I always stayed on track and followed through with all of my daily bodybuilding disciplines.

Ron Harris, a contributing writer for Ironman magazine, overheard Travis calling me "Machine" one day during a training session at Gold’s Gym in Venice, California. He later mentioned the nickname Travis had given me in one of his articles.

A few months later, when I was about to have a four-part series on training, nutrition, supplementation, and motivation published in Ironman, Editor-in-chief Steve Holman needed something creative to call the set of feature articles. “Mass Machine Training” was what he decided upon.

I liked the name and have been using it ever since. I refer to my website as “The Mass Machine” because I want the structured and organized information and inspiration it contains to help you pack-on muscle mass with “machine-like” precision.

Again, be certain to use this website to your full advantage. Make the decision TODAY to get the instruction and motivation that you MUST have in order to take your training to the next level!
