Imagination And Skills

We all get stuck at times.

We KNOW we have what it takes to get where we really want to be.

There are people who notice the potential we have.

They know it.

We know.

In fact, if we saw a person like us who was stuck, we’d encourage him and say, “Man! You have EVERYTHING you need. You just need to suck it up and get after it.”

(I tell myself that all the time too, if it makes you feel better.)

We just need to “crack the code.” We all have our unique codes to crack.

I’m no different than you.

What I’ve learned about myself and other men who get stuck, is this:

It comes down to two things:

1. Lack of imagination

2. Lack of skills needed to work with and negotiate with people who don’t automatically agree with us.

Imagination. We have a lot more options to get to the next level than we think.

Skills. We all have our favorite way to get other people to see things our way. It doesn’t work for everyone.

Some people go out of their way to be really nice. Some people do exactly what is expected better than anyone else in the group. My favorite way to get other people to see my point-of-view is to be “the hardest worker in the room.”

Our favorite “skill” all work to some degree. Or, we wouldn’t use them. They usually don’t work as well as we’d like or with everyone we meet.

We get frustrated sometimes when our favorite skill doesn’t work. We blame other people. We never consider trying a different and more effective skill before getting frustrated.

We just need more “tools.” More skills.

We limit our imagination of the great outcomes that could possibly happen when we’re frustrated.

I talk about some options in this video.

I understand that only a few of us can relate.
