Alright, let’s talk about this fitness journey—especially for older men like us who are busy, productive, and want to get this whole thing figured out. You want to know how to eat right, how to train hard, how to lose body fat, build muscle, and where supplements fit in. I’ve been doing this for over three decades, and I’ve seen a lot of information come and go.

The first thing I want to make clear: you don’t need supplements. If you’re just starting out or even if you’re coming back after a long break, I’d rather you focus on the basics first—learn how to train effectively, understand how to overload your muscles, get comfortable with that process. Most importantly, you need to learn how to eat properly. If you want to lose body fat, that’s where the biggest progress comes from. I’d rather see you get consistent and build those habits around training and nutrition.

Here’s why: if you dive in and start buying a bunch of supplements right away—protein powders, creatine, L-carnitine, whatever’s hot right now—you’re going to feel like you have to keep taking them. You’ll think those supplements are the reason you’re seeing progress. And that’s not true. What’s really driving progress is the consistency, the discipline, and the work you’re putting in. When you’re just getting started, I’d rather you prove to yourself that you can make progress without any of those supplements. That way, you know the truth: it’s your habits and effort that matter most.

Now, I’m not against supplements entirely. I’ve tried them all. When I was competing, I took them too. They can give you a mental edge, sure, and maybe a small boost when everything else is already dialed in. But the bottom line is that their real effectiveness is overvalued by most men—especially older men just starting out.

Look, I appreciate the ambition. I appreciate that you’re willing to invest in yourself. That’s huge. But if you really want to invest wisely, spend that time and money learning how to train and eat right. Get coaching if you can—it’s going to save you from a lot of frustration and wasted years of trial and error. That’s a far better investment than any supplement out there, no matter how hyped it is on social media.

If you’re ready to dive deeper—to learn how to train, eat, and even use supplements in a smart, sustainable way—just fill out the questionnaire below. I’m here to help you figure this out, one step at a time, so you can finally have the body and level of fitness you want. Let’s do this the right way.
